Gretna LA Police Summer Camp 7-14-17

Ameer Baraka aka “The Sexy Dyslexic” of American Horror Story fame, and the author of the acclaimed memoir, “The Life I Chose – The Streets Lied to Me” (www.BarakaBook.com), is shown mentoring youth at the Gretna, LA Police Department’s 2017 summer camp for at-risk youth. The Gretna Police Department purchased copy of Baraka’s book for every officer on their police force, and Gretna’s Chief of Police made the book mandatory reading for all officers. In summer 2018, Baraka and his Partner, noted Harvard trained criminologist, Dr. Peter Scharf, Ph.D., a professor at Tulane University, will be launching Cop Camps, Inc., which will partner with local police departments throughout the United States to operate police-involved, interventional summer camps for at-risk youth using the pair’s proprietary conflict resolution pedagogy.
